January Events

Tues. and Thurs. DOME RUNNING!  The Dome will be open every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The cost is a mere $1 for a chance to avoid icy and snowy dark sidewalks in favor of running in shorts.  It is 2.5 laps per mile which is much larger than all other indoor tracks available in the cities.

1/12: ALARC Ice Dive:  How steely is your resolve?  How cool are your nerves?  Come and start the year off right with us at the ALARC Ice Dive in Minnetonka.  Tune in to the message board for meet up details.

1/9 Meet Of Miles: These one mile races are held at the University of Minnesota Field House.  This is a chance to test your training on a track in a timed event and for the Houston folks to take care of their mile time trial.  There is an event for everyone from the speediest to the most speed challenged.

1/15 Houston Marathon and Half Marathon:  There will be a large contingent going to Houston this year for the Marathon and Half Marathon.  The race is full now but there are still hotel rooms available to those who might want to come down for the fun and also join us for the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Marathon trials which will be run on Saturday 1/14.  It should be a very inspiring weekend.

1/21 First Annual Ugly Sweater Eggnog Schlogg:  10 a.m. at the Lake Calhoun Executive Center.  This timed event will tax more than just the speed in your legs as you will gain a leg up on the competition based on the ugliness of your sweater and your ability to down eggnog and still run.  Non dairy options will be available.

1/21 Freeze Your Gizzard Blizzard 10K:  There will be a small handful of MN Red’ers heading to the annual tradition in the North Country.  What better way to spend the coldest average day of the year in the coldest average place in the lower 48 than to run a 10K race?  And then drink.  And maybe bowl some frozen turkeys.
